Wireless Monitoring To Play Crucial Role In Healthcare And Surveillance

We are moving toward complete autonomy and wireless connectivity. So, no doubt that wireless monitoring has gained importance, especially to monitor patients’ health. In addition, going wireless is the best way to cut costs. Technological innovations such as mesh network technologies have enabled several sensors to operate for years without consuming tremendous power.

The wireless monitor is computer monitoring that utilizes wireless signals to connect devices to a computer to display video, graphics, and other computer-generated data. In short, it replaces wired data cable with a Wi-Fi-powered TV adapter.

As per the latest research, the global wireless monitoring market is expected to witness significant growth due to the rise in demand for better monitoring security across various industry verticals. Thanks to the emergence of new technologies including machine learning, wireless monitoring systems have been cheaper to run.  Moreover, new technologies have changed the way machine condition data is used and made cloud computing–even at a larger magnitude–easier and cheaper to implement.

The most important use of wireless monitoring is in healthcare. Philips recently launched a pre-hospital wireless monitoring solution for quick emergency medical response. Tempus ALS is remote monitoring and defibrillator solution for pre-hospital settings in the U.S. The solution is an end-to-end system that combines innovative hardware and advanced software to improve the existing pre-hospital scope of care. It offers real-time bidirectional data transfer for wireless patient monitoring, which gives the EMS responder a new way to pre-hospital care.

Another industry player, 7SINGAL announced the availability of Mobile Eye 3.0 with improved monitoring capabilities for all employees that work from home and virtual students. According to a survey, more than 74% of CFOs aim to shift some of the employees to adopt the ‘work from home’ culture permanently. This adoption is due to the increasing stress for infrastructure and operations.

However, leaders have been struggling to monitor employees’ home networks. On the other hand, Mobile Eye, software-as-a-service applications could offer wireless connectivity visibility as it silently runs in the background of any Windows and Android devices. In addition, the Mobile Eye 3.0 focuses on foreground and background operations and offers reliable and consistent wireless monitoring.

Apart from patient and enterprise monitoring, wireless monitoring has gained importance in various fields. For instance, researchers at MIT have developed a novel wireless system to monitor vital signs and movements without any contact while preserving privacy. The system can be used for the long-term care of residents without compromising their privacy.

The system is called RF-Diary and is said to be able to determine whether the person is reading, sleeping, cooking, or watching TV by combining a person’s living space. Researchers have trained it on wireless signals generated by people who engage in different activities. Wireless monitoring has great potential in surveillance and other purposes. Moreover, if integrated with wearable technology, it could open limitless opportunities in the future.
